MACHU PICCHU

Machu Picchu was built by the Inca civilization in the 15th century, during the reign of Pachacuti, one of the most significant Inca emperors. It is believed to have been constructed between 1450 and 1460, although some scholars suggest the construction may have continued into the early 1500s.
Machu Picchu served as an important royal estate or religious retreat for the Inca elite. The site was strategically chosen for its location in the mountains, with its impressive architecture, terraces, and temples built using precise stonework, showcasing the advanced engineering skills of the Incas.
Though the exact purpose of Machu Picchu remains a subject of debate, it is widely believed to have been a ceremonial and religious site, likely dedicated to the sun god, Inti, as well as a possible royal residence or retreat for Pachacuti and his successors.
